Democrat Raychel Proudie scolds Republicans for faux benevolence

A RAW DEAL FOR WORKING FAMILIES | State Rep. Raychel Proudie, D-Ferguson, was one of many Democrats who stood up today against a MASSIVE transfer of wealth to the highest net worth Missourians.

The Missouri Legislature just passed a repeal of the state's capital gains tax, and because that's so obviously unfair, unpopular and unacceptable to middle-class and working families, Republican politicians needed to include some Democrat-championed provisions, in order to make their actions more politically acceptable.

In addition to the enormous wealth transfer, the bill also eliminates the sales tax levied on diapers and feminine hygiene products, as well as providing an important tax credit for disabled and elderly Missourians. Those are great things that Democrats have been pushing for years.

The problem is those policies are DRAMATICALLY overshadowed by the budget-breaking, wealth-gap widening, tax cut fiasco the current majority just created.

They tossed working Missourians pennies and took dollars for themselves.
Missouri. Deserves. Better.
