U.S. President Donald Trump encouraged the American public on Wednesday to fly aboard domestic airlines, suggesting the chance of exposure to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) while on an aircraft was minimal. Trump said, "Yes, it's safe. Absolutely."
Representatives from some of the U.S.'s top airlines met with the president, saying they have stepped up their cleaning and other procedures amid concerns about the novel coronavirus.
Representatives from Southwest Airlines Co., United Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue, among others, attended the meeting at the White House with Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other top U.S. officials.
